2016 TTU CLARINET DAY GUEST ARTISTS

Internationally renowned artist Dr. Jeremy W. Reynolds joined the faculty of the University of Denver's Lamont School of Music after performing as Principal Clarinetist of the Tucson Symphony Orchestra where his performances consistently brought high praise from critics and public alike. He has performed throughout Colombia, Italy, Portugal, Taiwan and Australia in addition to concertizing for the International Clarinet Association's ClarFest, ClariBogota, Cultural Festival of Portugal's World Exposition, Australian Clarinet and Saxophone Festival, International Alliance for Women in Music, University of Oklahoma Clarinet Symposium, International Double Reed Society, National Flute Convention and the Great Southwest Flute Fest. Equally in demand in an orchestral setting, Reynolds has performed with the Colorado Symphony Orchestra, Colorado Music Festival, Colorado Springs Philharmonic, Des Moines Metro Opera, Fresno Philharmonic, New World Symphony, National Repertory Orchestra, National Orchestral Institute and at the Aspen Music Festival. He has recorded for the Australian Broadcasting Association, Carl Fischer Publishing Company, Mark Records and Summit.

Reynolds also brings dynamic chamber music performances to the concert stage. He has performed for the Sedona Chamber Music Festival, with the Tucson Symphony Wind Quintet and is currently a member of the Lamont Wind Quintet and Agassiz Duo, a flute and clarinet ensemble. Reynolds has won awards at both the Coleman and Carmel National Chamber Music Competitions additionally collaborating with esteemed artists Itzhak Perlman, Don Weilerstein, Paul Katz, Ronald Leonard, Stefan Milenkovich and Merry Peckham.

As a passionate educator, Reynolds is also on the Artist/Faculty roster at the Bay View Music Festival. He has been invited to teach in some of the world's most renowned music conservatories including the Conservatoire de Versailles, Sydney Conservatorium of Music, Escola Superior de Música de Catalunya and Conservatorio de Música de Murcia in Spain as well as Soochow University and Tainan University of the Arts in Taiwan. He has been a guest lecturer for San Francisco Symphony's Keeping Score program and has held teaching positions at the Idyllwild Arts Summer Program, Northern Arizona University, University of Southern California Thornton School of Music and California State University Long Beach.

Reynolds is a graduate of Ithaca College, University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music and the University of Southern California Thornton School of Music where he was named Doctoral Student of the Year and was inducted into the Pi Kappa Lambda National Music Honor Society. His principal teachers include Yehuda Gilad, Monica Kaenzig, Michelle Zukovsky, David Howard, Richard Hawley, Bil Jackson, Ted Oien, Michael Galvan and David Minelli.

Jeffrey Brooks, clarinetist, has performed all across America including a concert in Carnegie Hall, with John Rutter conducting, and a week as guest Principal Clarinetist with the Seattle Symphony. Presently based in Atlanta, GA Jeff performs orchestral engagements regularly throughout the Southeast including organizations such as the Charleston Symphony, Symphony Orchestra Augusta, the Columbus Symphony, and many more. On approximately twenty occasions, Jeff has been heard as a concerto soloist and he has been revered as a recitalist on nearly forty different recital programs.

“Monsters of Clarinet” is Jeff’s newest project and he is taking the world by storm with this exciting new pops show for clarinet, jazz trio, and symphony orchestra. This program highlights the music of three “clarinet monsters”: Benny Goodman, Artie Shaw, and JeffBrooks. All of these clarinetists are famous for their innovative use of the instrument and substantial contributions to the ever-expanding clarinet repertory, both in the jazz and western art genres. An avid clarinet repair technician, Jeff Brooks owns and operates “Brooks Clarinet Service” a clarinet repair and sales business that specializes in new and used Buffet Clarinets. In addition, Jeff is a passionate teacher with professional teaching experience at Florida State University, Ohio University, Central Washington University, and Walla Walla University.

In the summer of 2015, Jeff will complete his Doctorate in Music from Florida State University. Jeff’s Doctoral Dissertation is based on the Jazz clarinet concertos of Diaz, Todd, and Callandrelli. You can find both of Jeff’s professional Jazz CD’s on Itunes.com!

A former clarinetist of the Frankfurt Oper, Ms RoAnn Romines has been a clarinetist for the Munich Chamber Ensemble, Giessen Oper and the San Antonio Symphony.  She has appeared as soloist in Germany, Austria, Netherlands, Texas, Mexico, Indiana and the Dominican Republic.

A graduate of Middle Tennessee State University (BM) and Indiana University (MM), Ms. Romines continued her post-doctorate studies at Indiana and Amsterdam Universiteit and Berlin with emphasis on the psychology of music and clarinet performance.  She has appeared at various venues for Clarinet in Germany, Austria, Mexico, and Texas, and she has given master classes and lectures in the Dominican Republic, Texas, Mexico, Indiana and Tennessee.

Ms. Romines has appeared as a clinician at Midwest, various universities, international schools and state conferences.   She has taught clarinet at the Universidad Autonoma de Santo Domingo, Frankfurt Hochschule,  Giessen Community College, Berlin Philharmonic Academy,  and continues to maintain a large private studio.  

The past 24 years, Ms. Romines has also been teaching instrumental music. Prior to her present position at the University of Tennessee and Maryville City Schools, she has been a Band Director in the Dominican Republic, Giessen Germany, Indiana and Texas.   She has conducted clinics in Illinois, Indiana, North Carolina,Germany, Texas, Kentucky and Colorado and has conducted orchestras in Germany, Amsterdam and Indiana.   She has appeared as a clinician at Midwest,  various universities, international schools and state conferences and has contributed to articles in the Instrumentalist,  MENC and ICA and his a contributing editor to the Instrumentalist.
